Working within a specialist engineering manufacturer on the Herefordshire /Powys Border on a full-time permanent basis. This role is responsible for supporting manufacturing, operations and engineering activities across the business. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational excellence, continuous improvement and LEAN manufacturing initiatives, whilst supporting production efficiency, quality standards and process optimisation. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with operations, engineering, supply chain and production teams to improve performance, implement new processes and support business growth.

• Salary up to £40’000 per annum depending on experience

What You Will Be Doing

• Providing production engineering support to daily manufacturing operations
• Supervising production teams to ensure work is completed effectively and efficiently
• Creating, maintaining and improving standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Identifying and implementing process improvements and operational efficiencies
• Supporting capital equipment justification, specification, procurement and implementation
• Working with supply chain teams to identify cost-saving opportunities within component and product designs
• Developing manufacturing routings, workflows and bills of materials (BOMs)
• Supporting continuous improvement and LEAN manufacturing initiatives
• Maintaining quality, production engineering and production control elements within the ERP system
• Contributing to value stream mapping and efficiency improvement programmes
• Supporting change management initiatives across the business
• Liaising with subcontractors to ensure outsourced components meet delivery requirements
• Monitoring and reporting on operational performance through KPIs
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures, company policies and quality standards

What We Are Looking For

• Demonstrable experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
• HNC, HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and technical understanding
• Knowledge of quality systems and manufacturing quality processes
• Experience applying structured problem-solving methodologies
• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma
• Experience using 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
• Familiarity with ERP and MRP systems
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
