We are working with a leading manufacturer within the FMCG food and drink sector environment on the Herefordshire/Powys border. This role will be to drive innovation, new product development, and reformulation projects. Sustainability, quality, and creativity at the forefront, this position is responsible for taking products from concept to launch whilst ensuring technical, commercial, and customer requirements are fully met.

What you will be doing:

• Leading, mentoring, and inspiring a small Product Development team, promoting collaboration and creativity.
• Managing the full product development lifecycle from concept through to launch, ensuring commercial, technical, and brand requirements are met.
• Working closely with internal teams across formulation, ingredients sourcing, manufacturing, marketing, and design to deliver seamless project execution.
• Monitoring industry trends, competitor activity, and market launches to identify new product opportunities.
• Preparing and maintaining accurate development documentation, including specifications, recipes, and audit-ready technical information.
• Producing baseline costings for recipe and finished product development, ensuring commercial feasibility.
• Completing customer specification systems to support accurate pack copy and compliance with customer standards.
• Collaborating with design and marketing teams on artwork development and communication requirements.
• Managing product development projects for named own-label customers.
• Ensuring all statutory, legal, food safety, and customer-specific standards are fully met.
  

What we are looking for:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in product development and/or project management.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple development streams simultaneously.
• Experience managing and developing people.
• Excellent IT skills and proficient in documentation and specification systems.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, organisational, and time-management abilities.
• High attention to detail with strong problem-solving capability.
• A creative mindset with the ability to generate and develop new ideas.
