We are looking for Lab Machinists to support engineering and sample testing operations within a busy laboratory environment. This role involves preparing and processing test samples using a range of manual and computer-controlled equipment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established testing standards.

What you will be doing:

• Preparing and testing a variety of raw materials and industrial samples using standard lab procedures
• Operating manual and CNC-controlled machinery (lathes, saws, grinders, milling machines)
• Recording, calculating, and reporting test data accurately
• Entering and monitoring sample information using computer systems
• Performing maintenance, calibration, and fault reporting on test equipment
• Prioritising urgent test requests in coordination with other departments
• Liaising with external inspectors for production and contract testing
• Supporting and training less experienced team members
• Maintaining lab documentation, ensuring procedural compliance
• Assisting in workflow management in the absence of supervision
• Upholding safety and cleanliness across the work area

What we are looking for:

• Experience using engineering tools such as lathes, saws, grinders, milling machines, hand tools, callipers, and vernier gauges
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong focus on health and safety in the workplace
• Ability to follow and refine technical procedures
• High level of numeracy and attention to detail
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Initiative-driven with good decision-making ability
• Able to work flexibly, including day, night, and weekend shifts
