We are recruiting on behalf of our North Herefordshire client who are offering a fantastic opportunity to train with a team of skilled engineers on a full time and permanent basis. This Trainee Engineer role involves the inspection, maintenance, and refurbishment of vital equipment across the country.

You will learn the skills to become a competent and confident engineer and for the right candidate, there are opportunities available to progress into a leadership role as a foreperson and earning a highly competitive salary. 

What you can expect: 

• Starting salary of £22,500 per annum, increasing to £27,500 after the successful completion of a training period (time dependant on the ability of the candidate) 
• Candidates with existing mechanical or engineering experience will achieve a starting rate of £27,500 
• Salary potential earnings are up to £39,350 for Foreperson 
• Offering a health insurance package 

Provided training includes: 

• First Aid 
• Confined Space 
• Working at Height 
• IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) 
• PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers and Manufacturers’ Association)
• Ladder User & Inspector 

What you will be doing: 

• Working away all week, some weekend work
• Working under the supervision of a foreman and the management, undertaking duties and tasks required for carrying out the role of an engineer
• Working in accordance with company processes and procedures 
• Working responsibly, and within Health & Safety legislation, and to the company Safety Plan, ensuring your own safety as well as the safety of others
• Have a full understanding of all risk and method statements specific to each task 
• Completion of own accountancy paperwork including expenses and timesheets 
• When traveling nationally or internationally use any motor vehicle you are charged with responsibly and within the law 

What we are looking for: 

• Genuine interest in engineering 
• Able to effectively communicate in person and in writing 
• Able to use initiative to respond independently to problems and unexpected situations 
• Competent in the use of all tools including power tools 
• Confident in working at height and inside confined spaces 
• Hold a full UK driving license
