We are recruiting for a Management Accountant to join our rural client on a permanent basis in a newly established position. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the ongoing evolution of a well-established business based on the Powys/Herefordshire borders.

Our rural client is seeking someone who is comfortable working as part of a small flexible multidimensional team. Integrity, discretion, reliability and timeliness are fundamental requirements and the successful candidate will be required to efficiently initiate and complete tasks without close supervision. Experience within an SME is essential.

What you can expect:

• A competitive salary up to £40,000, depending on experience
• 5 days per week with 1 day a week at home

What you will be doing:

• Timely and accurate production and review of monthly management accounts; including profit and losses, balance sheet and cash flow
• Review of monthly prepayments and accruals schedules
• Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
• Preparation and submission of VAT returns
• Preparation and maintenance of fixed asset register
• Weekly cash-flow forecasting
• Assistance with preparation of yearend small company accounts
• Implementing, improving, and monitoring of controls, policies, and procedures within management accounts to ensure the company remains efficient
• Liaising with auditors for the preparation of R7D claims
• Pricing analysis along with other ad hoc financial analysis
• Company secretarial duties and maintaining board minutes

What we are looking for:

• Extensive management accounts experience within an SME
• Professional financial qualification preferred
• Highly numerical/analytical
• Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
• Excellent planning and organisational skills
• Advanced Excel skills including macros, VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables etc.
• Strong IT skills
• Approachable with excellent people skills
• Knowledge of Xero and payroll background would be beneficial
